Instagram Waves

Kristen and Anthony’s Wave

So where did this whole idea get started?

True story – my name is Kristen and I’m a wedding photographer who waited 8 perfect years to marry her groom. After being engaged for 6 of those years, we were ready to put everything we knew about weddings to the test! I came up with a (pretty lame) custom hashtag and tried to keep up with posting pictures of my journey – from dress fittings to honeymoon (which we’ll go on in June!). On the day of my wedding, I was stalking instagram looking for photos of my guests, little secret details and before and afters of the space! Just to be clear, I really wasn’t glued to my phone all day – but all I really cared about when I did pick it up was sharing what I was doing while my guests were sharing their moments. It was such a cool concept – like a big, giant, 200-person group chat where we gorged on each other’s outfit choices and hair styles. But more importantly, I got a view of my perfect wedding from everyone else’s vantage points.

Here’s the interesting part. Being a wedding photographer, I wanted to be SURE that I had an unplugged ceremony – and boy, did my guests take me seriously! Everyone was fully present in my day… listening, watching and crying right along with us. But it would have been just a little cool to have one person taking a few behind the scenes photos here and there. My professional photographer shouldn’t be pulled from their focus, and my guests were completely involved in the moment – so just one person who can shoot like a pro but with the view of a guest – it just started making sense to me!

What was once a little inkling baby idea in the back of my mind started to manifest itself in to a full blown concept.

I’m never quite sure where my ideas will go from here – but I’m hoping that we can put a little fun in to other couple’s weddings and bridge the gap between perspectives! I hope you’ll share in this journey with me!
